Good question. I spend a lot of time trying to figure that out myself. Let’s get the easy stuff out of the way first. I am a husband to a beautiful and loving woman, a father to a precious and adorable daughter, and a servant to two unruly bulldogs. I graduated from Louisiana Tech in 2002 with a degree in the technology field, and that is how we all currently put food in our bellies. I moved back to Ruston in 2006 and that is where we all currently live, work, and play.
Now for the harder question.
WHO am I?
Stop and ask yourself the same question. It is not easily answered if you really think about it. In just a few short sentences above, I’ve told you where I live, what I do, and who I love. But you have no idea who I am. Sometimes I ask myself that question and just can’t come up with an answer. I have mental glimpses of who I want to be, but can we ever really meet our own expectations? I think the struggle, both internal and external, to try be who we want to be is a powerful driving force in our lives. It is that struggle that pushes us out of our comfort zones and leads us to face those obstacles so that they can be overcome.
Who am I?
I am a lover. The passion that I feel for my wife is as furious today as it was when we started dating some 15 years ago. I can look into her eyes and know everything about her at any given time. She lays her soul bare for me and I can never express to her how much she means to me. I strive to take care of her and protect her, but above all else, I need to make her proud of me.
I am a tickle monster. My daughter is almost two years old as I write this and she has been such a blessing to us. Each day holds a new surprise from her. A new word, a new look, a new tantrum. Whatever. I’ll take whatever she wants to dish out as long as need be. I live for those moments when I’m holding her and she wants to kiss each of my eyes.
I am a photographer. You’d think that would be easy to write, but it is not. When I look out on the internet at all the talent out there, my natural instinct is to call myself a hack that will never be as good. But that’s not true. I will be that good. I will be better. As I mentioned earlier, the driving need to get better is what drives us all. And it drives me everyday. Capturing that laughing child at just the right instant drives me. Taking a location that I drive by everyday and making it magical drives me. Looking through the viewfinder at two people staring into each others eyes and seeing love in those glances drives me.
That is who I am.
This may be way more information than you needed to know. Maybe you were just looking for an email address or phone number. I wrote all this so that, should you choose to contact me, you’ll know a little about me and what I’ll bring to the table. I hope you enjoy your look around. Feel free to contact me using the contact link at the top.
Thanks for stopping by.
